THE MARIN RECYCLING CENTER
The Marin Recycling Center is a part of the Marin Sanitary family of companies. It is the primary material recovery facility (MRF) for all residential and commercial curbside recyclable material in central Marin County.
The Center processes curbside recyclables, provides document shredding, and auto dismantling.
CRV BUYBACK CENTER IS PERMANENTLY CLOSED
The CRV buyback center at Marin Recycling Center is permanently closed, to make space for expanded recycling processing infrastructure.
There are many CRV redemption locations throughout our area; ask your local market if they accept CRV. Beverage containers covered are subject to California Redemption Value (CRV), which is 5 cents for containers less than 24 ounces, 10 cents for containers 24 ounces or larger.
The list below provides contact information for CRV redemption centers. CalRecycle recommends people call ahead before taking CRV containers for redemption to all centers.

Document Shredding at the Marin Recycling Center
Document shredding services are available for a fee at the Marin Recycling Center.
When you arrive, our team can assist you with unloading your vehicle or bring a cart directly to you. Simply drop off your sensitive documents into a secure, lockable cart for later destruction.
To ensure efficient recycling, please keep your paper separate from other materials. Remember, no metal hanging folders, plastic, or metal clips are allowed.
Witnessing Documentation Destruction
For an additional fee you may make an appointment (see appointment availability hours below) and witness your document shredding. This process provides you with the peace of mind knowing that your personal or company documents are securely destroyed right before your eyes and ensures the chain of custody, maintaining the security of your files until you receive a certificate of destruction. For compliance with HIPAA laws, which require proof of secure destruction, witnessed shredding is the ideal solution.

Mobile Confidential Document Shredding Service
Our shredding service will come to you!
Our mobile shredding van can come to you an on-call basis or you can set up an account and establish a regular pick-up service. If you set up an account, we can provide 64-gallon lockable carts to keep on site until it is ready for pick up. Please note that a refundable deposit is required for all containers.
One-time service starts at just $100. We can shred the materials in front of you if you would like to witness the destruction (additional fees apply for this service).
We have routes that serve all of Marin County, however, additional fees apply to areas outside of our contracted service areas of San Rafael, San Anselmo, Fairfax, Ross, Kentfield, Greenbrae, and Larkspur.

AUTO DISMANTLING
We offer fast and easy junk car dismantling and recycling services for Marin County.
All you need is the title or junked slip from the DMV, and we’ll take care of the rest.
We will remove any hazardous materials like oil and heavy metals to ensure that your car is properly dismantled. All recoverable material will be removed be recycled into another commodity.

About the Marin Recycling Center
Built in 1986, The Marin Recycling Center is a part of the Marin Sanitary family of companies known as the Marin Recycling and Resource Recovery Association (MRRA) and acts as the primary material recovery facility (MRF) for all residential curbside recyclable material in central Marin County. One of the first of its kind, the facility was envisioned by Joe Garbarino who saw the need for a full scale recycling center here in Marin County.
The facility utilizes star screens, magnets, eddy current, blowers, hand sorting lines, and many other technologies to efficiently sort and bail all paper, cardboard, glass, aluminum, and plastic curbside materials. All material is then baled into its respective commodity type and then sent to market to be converted back into consumer products.
In addition to processing curbside recyclables, the Buy Back center inside the Marin Recycling Center accepts California Redemption Value (CRV) beverage containers and pays for certain source separated recoverable materials like scrap metal and cardboard.
